UofSC Choirs Present Free Concerts

Ring in the holiday season with university singers

Thursday, November 29, 7:30 p.m.
USC Men’s and USC Women’s Chorus Concert
Main Street United Methodist Church (1830 Main St.) – Free

The Women’s Chorus program features old and new music: ancient chant melodies in modern day settings, selections from Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, and some music for the holiday season. Poetry  from the US, Canada, and Haiti, heard in settings by James Deignan, Stephen Chatman, Mark Sirett, and Sydney Guillaume, is also included on the program. The texts highlight different aspects of peace and conflict. Guillaume’s work “Kanpe La (meaning ‘enough’)” is a statement against violence in all cultures.
