The Program
Hans Abrahamsen - String Quartet, No. 4
Abrahamsen wrote his fourth quartet over a 20-year span for the Arditti Quartet.
He described it as a "serene and cool piece, which is quiet and soft, like high singing
in heaven."
Ludwig van Beethoven - String Quartet in A minor, Op. 132
Beethoven's iconic quartet from the late period has always been an audience favorite,
the heart of the work being its middle movement, the "Holy Song of Thanksgiving."
