Parker Quartet Spring 2022 Residency

Once again, the School of Music is excited to host the Parker Quartet (Daniel Chong and Ken Hamao, violins; Jessica Bodner, viola, Kee-Hyun Kim, cello) for their annual spring residency. From March 23-27, the Grammy-award-winning Quartet will fill both the concert halls and classrooms with their extraordinary talents.

"Something extraordinary."

The New York Times

Founded and currently based in Boston, the Parker Quartet’s numerous honors include winning the Concert Artists Guild Competition, the Grand Prix and Mozart Prize at France’s Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition and Chamber Music America’s prestigious biennial Cleveland Quartet Award.

Renowned for their dynamic, compelling interpretations, expansive colors, and varied repertoire ranging from classical to romantic to new music, the group has rapidly distinguished itself as one of the preeminent ensembles of its generation. In demand worldwide, the quartet has appeared at distinguished venues, series and festivals throughout North and South America, Great Britain, Europe and South Korea since its founding in 2002.

On Wednesday, March 23, you can learn along with our students as the Quartet lead instrumental and chamber music masterclasses throughout the day. On Friday, enjoy the Parker Quartet’s “luminous sound and exceptional musicianship” with an evening concert of Mozart, Iyer, Childs and Janáček. And on Sunday, March 27, be sure to catch their free Family Concert featuring Webern’s Langsamer Satz. It is three days of chamber music you will not want to miss!

"Their polished presence and fresh approach make them a formidable force."

Check out the full schedule and reserve your tickets today for Friday’s concert. Please note, that masks are still required in all performance spaces at the School of Music. Don’t worry if you cannot join us in person? You can purchase a ticket for the live-stream as well.

All masterclasses are free and open to the public, as well as Sunday’s Family Concert. We hope to see you there!
