Research and Teaching Interests

Lisa Fitton's research centers on the objective of improving educational outcomes for children from diverse backgrounds and enabling students to reach their full potential. To support children effectively, however, there is need for appropriate assessment tools to identify children who are at risk for academic difficulties. Dr. Fitton focuses on identifying valid assessment approaches for children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds through rigorous methodological and statistical approaches, and on improving service providers' understanding of effective assessment practice.
